In 2001, a new chapter of the Utah Native Plant Society has formed in southeastern Utah. A large number of people (for Moab) attended our first two meetings, and we have a lot of enthusiasm for a number of activities in the coming months. At our second meeting we agreed on the name "Canyonlands Chapter" as it recognizably describes our focal region. In the works is a heritage garden to be located along the Mill Creek Parkway at 400 East. This project is in the planning stages, planting is currently slated for October or November of this year. David Olsen from the City of Moab and Susan Meyer from UNPS have been extremely helpful in the planning stages of this project.
