August 2010 news from Chapter President Walt Fertig: (posted 8/14/10)

The Kane County chapter of the Utah Native Plant Society will be holding our summer garden tour next week, on August 18. The tour will begin at the Best Friends Welcome Center at 6:30 PM. The Welcome Center is located on the lower entrance road to Best Friends off UT HWy 89, about 5 miles north of Kanab. Chapter Vice President Jana de Peyer will be on hand to show off the plantings and koi pond around the visitor center building. From there, we will continue to the Dogtown Heights section of Best Friends to see the native plant gardens of UNPS members Anne Mejia and Jana. The tour will continue until dusk. Everyone is welcome to attend.

We tentatively have our fall native plant sale planned for Saturday, Sept 11 at the Kanab farmer's market from 9-11 AM or so featuring the plants of Janett Warner's Wildland Nursery in Joseph, UT. More details later.
