An individual who was a co-signer on the Price Chapter account when it was created in 1997 but then no longer remained active a year later and who no longer was authorized to make transactions on behalf of the chapter, liquidated the Price Chapter account on June 22, 2004 and transferred the funds to a personal savings account. The Price chapter did not become aware of this until August of 2006 when it had been decided to close the account. The funds totaling $715.44 are the property of the Utah Native Plant Society (and ultimately, its members).
Information as to the whereabouts of Stephanie M. Bailey (formerly Stephanie Bailey-Steed, Stephanie M. Steed and Stephanie B. Steed) , born in 1943, is sought. She formerly lived in Kenilworth and Helper, Utah (in the Price area) and also lived in the Salt Lake City area. She may have moved from the Price area to Minneapolis, Minnesota in last half of 2004. She gave an address of 11626 High Mountain Drive in Sandy, Utah (which is listed under James L. Bailey - brother? - who has claimed to not have a current phone number for her and who has otherwise refused to communicate with us) to the bank when liquidating the account. She used what appears to be a false social security number when establishing the UNPS account originally, and the Sandy address she gave the bank is one that she may have lived at in the 1990's but may have not have actually been her actual address at the time.
The UNPS state organization has taken steps to ensure that additional controls over chapter funds are in place in an attempt to ensure that dormant accounts, as this one was, are more frequently reviewed and verified. Chapters independently establish and control their funds but have reporting requirements to the state organization. UNPS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
