Advocating for the protection of important remaining native ecosystems throughout the state, regardless of the ownership of those ecosystems

Advocating for the protection of Utah rare plant species (as identified both by the UNPS rare plant committee, as well as by agencies), regardless of where they occur

Commenting on a wide range of project proposals and their potential impacts on the above

Participating in litigation, with board approval, only as a last resort to ensure that Endangered Species Act laws and regulations are properly observed, and that species that meet the Act's criteria are listed when appropriate

Educating the media and the public as to the importance of conserving native plants in situ including the intrinsic values of biodiversity (and providing answers to the pervasive "Why should anyone care?" question)

Working cooperatively with other conservation organzations as well as, when possible, with federal/state/local agencies with respect to the above

RARE PLANTS

Providing technical assistance and oversight for the Utah Rare Plant Guide
